Our Silver Award: Promoting Peace & Kindness

Our mission is to teach children to promote peace and kindness in their everyday lives.

Our Presentations

So this page is basically an update on the presentations that our troop has been working on and will continue to work on.  The presentation was my part of our Silver Award project.  As of right now, it is still in the planning stages.  We are going to contact several locations to ask permission to present there.  We made a list of places we want to take our show, and it's quite lengthy.  We decided to focus on the message of Pro-peace for our lecture.  We didn't want to be negative, and discuss anti-bullying.  We chose to take the high-road of Peace.  We plan to show this project to kids anywhere from ages 5 to 11 or 12.  We want kids of all ages to be able to understand our message, and to get somthing out of these shows.  Our shows are probably going to be scripted, so that we don't run into any surprises; there are only three of us, though, so that shouldn't be too hard.  I'll keep you posted on our progress, and who knows... we might even put our script up!  Stay tuned!

4/3/12

We are finally "getting our show on the road!"  We know have two presentations set up, one at our local library, and one with a local Daisy Girl Scout Troop.  The kits are mostly assembled, with the exception of one or two things.  Advertising through posters has been instigated, and everything is going well!!  With any luck, as of next week, we will have done one presentation already!  I'll keep you posted!

Our first presentation at a local library was a huge success!  We think that the kids really enjoyed themselves, and learned something about how to promote peace and understanding in their everyday lives.  We also left one of our pro-peace kits in the library, hoping that they will use it in the future.  The librarian is actually going to put a barcode on it, so that library members can check it out, and use it to present to a group of their own.  Hopefully, our kit will make the rounds, showing lots of people how to be understanding and accepting of others! We have another presentation next week; stay tuned!

5/1/12

Our second presentation was as great a success as our first one!  This time we presented to a group of Daisy Girl Scouts. The kids had a blast; we actually had to stop one activity because the kids were having so much fun, and making too much noise!  The leaders were very appreciative that we filled up one of their meetings with something educational and interesting, and allowed them to kick back.  We sang a lot of Girl Scout songs, which the Daisys are going to use in their bridging ceremony next month.  Hopefully, we taught the girls something that they will be able to use in their everyday lives.  This was our last presentation, altohugh we would have liked to do more.  Anyone who wants to use our kit, though, will be able to check it out from the local library, so it will continue to bring change to people's lives!  (Or, at least we hope it will!)
